Spa Gift Certificates

Last year for my birthday my husband gave me a great gift–in theory.  It was a gift certificate to a local day spa for a one-hour massage and facial.  I was ecstatic!  The thought of being pampered just 2 months after becoming a mommy was pure heaven.

Now it is almost a year later and I still haven’t used the certificate.  Ugh!  This last year has been crazy for me.   Trying to care for an infant and run a household for the first 8 months, I didn’t have time to pee, let alone take a day off for myself to be pampered.  Then I went back to work in August and added that onto my piling heap of “no time for me”.  So now, 12 months later, I have been unable to find 2 hours of pre-planned alone time to get away and use my birthday gift.  Happy Freaking Birthday to me!

Now I have the challenge of finding time to use this certificate before it expires in 2 weeks.  Unfortunately, I seriously don’t know how it’s going to happen.  This coming weekend is filled up with Matt’s friend’s wedding, housework, cleaning, shopping, and all of the other crap that I’m stuck doing on weekends because I don’t have time during the week because of work.  I feel stressed just thinking about how I’m going to pull this off.  And I don’t think that was the original intent of the present.  Damn.  Who would have thought that scheduling a day spa could be so traumatic.
